Rock Sample Analysis Model Introduction

Rock Sample Analysis covers the quantitative measurement of rock properties from rock samples, primarily core and sidewall core. This is the domain of core analysis and has two common branches, basic core analysis and special core analysis, which is often referred to as SCAL. Basic core analysis determines properties of porosity, permeability and water saturation. The laboratory methods and procedures are routine and well known so this area is explicitly modeled in Seabed. Conversely, SCAL has a wide variety of measurement objectives and laboratory methods so the approach to the data model here is to provide flexibility and extensibility via an open architecture utilizing parameters, properties sets, data values and their associations.
