Bits

• Drilling bit is an abstract class from which the classes Drill_Bit and Core_Bit are inherited. Drill bits are designed to either cut or crush rock in order to make a hole in the earth. Core bits are designed to remove an intact section of the rock (core) for analysis on the surface.

• Core bits have multiple ports in the same way that drill bits have nozzles.

• A condition of a drilling bit can be expressed by a series of codes as defined by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC).
