Well Remarks and Statuses

Both a well and a borehole can have many statuses over a period of time. In both cases, we have denormalized the current status and current status date to the parent classes (Well and Borehole). The status of the well is also tied to the statuses of its boreholes. In particular, a well would be said to be plugged and abandoned if and only if, all the boreholes that comprise the well are also plugged and abandoned.

The classes Well_Remark and Borehole_Remark also allow the user to add general remarks to a well or borehole. For example, if you wanted to annotate that a well was closed down for a period because of a safety valve test, then you would set the Effective_Date and End_Date to the period that the well was closed down and the remark would be a free format text field containing “Drilling operations suspended due to SSSV Test”.
